The California State Senate passed legislation last week 31-1 ensuring that the state and its public agencies will not work with businesses supporting the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Movement. After the State Assembly confirms it, the legislation will be sent to the Governor’s desk for final approval.
The Israeli-American Coalition for Action (IAC for Action), a partner advocacy organization of the Israeli American Council, spearheaded the legislation.
“Today’s vote sends a powerful message that the hateful and discriminatory environment fostered by BDS has no place in California,” Shawn Evenhaim, Chairman of the Israeli-American Coalition for Action, said in a statement. “The State’s taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize discrimination.”
The IAC for Action is a non-profit, non-partisan organization advocating on behalf of the Israeli-American community to policymakers on issues at the federal, state, and local level.
