The Oskar Schindler Foundation announced that the former factory in the Czech Republic of Oskar Schindler, who saved thousands of Jews during the Holocaust, will be declared a Holocaust memorial.
The facility has been open to the public since 2010 and is near the former Brnenec concentration camp. The site will be a functioning memorial site by 2019.
Jaroslav Novak, the head of the foundation, said, “It is one of the best-known buildings in the Czech Republic. The organization believes the memorial would attract more visitors to the region.”
