Trump to Netanyahu: “We’ll Work Together With Israel to Attain Peace”

Yesterday, Sunday January 22nd   Netanyahu spoke with President Trump for the first time since Trump was sworn in as president.

From Netanyahu’s office reports were that the conversation was most decidedly positive. “Both leaders discussed the Iran deal, the peace process with the Palestinians and other topics. The Prime Minister expressed his readiness to work with President Trump in a joint vision to promote peace and security in a way that there won’t be gaps between American and Israeli expectations”. They also mentioned that “President Trump invited Netanyahu to Washington to meet in February.”

The White house stated: That the two leaders “agreed to continue to closely consult on a range of regional issues,” and President Trump “emphasized that peace between Israel and the Palestinians can only be negotiated directly between the two parties, and that the United States will work closely with Israel to make progress towards that goal.” They also discussed ISIS and Iran and Trump restated that defeating ISIS and other Islamic terrorist groups remains a top priority.

The White House, a few hours before the phone conversation already discussed moving the U.S. consulate to Jerusalem and a spokesman said were at the “very beginning” of discussions on possibly moving the embassy.
