Brussels Report: Jews and Israelis Were Targeted

The Belgium investigative agencies which investigated the suicide bombing attack in Brussels Airport last year indicate that the terrorists’ target was Jews, Israelis and Americans.

One of the proofs they showed was a previously classified video of one of the terrorists in the middle of a group of 60 students, who suddenly left this big group to follow 2 Hasidic Jews moments before the explosion. The 2 were Hasidim of Belz, a 23 year old and a 28 year old, on their way from Belgium to Israel and they were wounded in the attack. 4 American citizens were killed and more were injured.

One of the investigators who preferred to remain anonymous said, “The terrorist literally ran after the Orthodox Jews and clearly wanted to kill a Jew”.

The investigators point out that a third terrorist backed out and did not explode himself but he was standing next to the El-Al counter and the United Airlines counter.  It is clear that if he’d have blown himself up there would have been many more Jewish casualties. The Delta check-in counter was another target. This information was given to the AFP news agency anonymously.

Additionally the Belgian media publicized that investigators were able to get a message that one terrorist sent to the other saying that ‘on Tuesdays flights leave to Israel, the U.S. and Russia’. Investigators will neither confirm nor deny this report.

The terrorist attack happened on March 22nd 2016 and was one of three attacks. The first 2 were the suicide attacks in Brussels Airport at 7:58 local time in both sides of the departures terminal. An hour and a half later another attack took place in a Brussels Metro Train Station. 32 people died altogether 4 of them were Americans and over 340 were wounded.

As we mentioned the attacks in the airport were right before departure times for flights to Israel and the U.S.  After the attacks, security in Ben-Gurion airport became very tight as a response to the attacks.
