Sources say that when we were in Egypt we sank to the the 49th level of impurity and had we sunk to the 50th we would have been unable to leave Egypt, G-d forbid. But G-d with his great compassion took us out of Egypt before we would reach the point of no return. From the point of Exodus until G-d’s giving us the Torah at Mount Sinai we underwent a spiritual healing from all the impurities of Egypt. This healing took place predominantly in Iyar.
Therefore in this month we pray not just for physical healing and recovery, we also pray for a spiritual recovery to repent and repair our deeds to make ourselves worthy of receiving the Torah.

It is good to take bread left over from a meal and say the following: “I hereby forgive and pardon all who have angered me and caused me pain and I ask G-d to forgive and pardon all those who caused me pain.” He should then break up the bread and feed it to the birds and say the following verse: “G-d is good to all, His compassion is on all his creations”. When dispersing the bread to the birds he should say Psalm 41, Fortunate is the one attuned to the needs of the destitute….”

Master of the world! Please with you mercy, give us the strength, health and sufficient ability and strengthen out limb sinews and bodies to stand (guard) on Your watch.
