Rav Shteinman Shlita About His Daughter-in-Law: “She Was a Pure Woman”

“She was a pure woman”, said Rav Shteinman Shlita upon the passing of his daughter-in-law, Rebbetzin Chana Shteinman, who passed away yesterday (9/8/2014) in the early morning hours.

A friend of Rav Shteinman, Rabbi Moshe Yehudah Schneider, described the pain Rav Shteinman endured upon her passing: “In order to say something, one must think about what to say, and not just talk without purpose. It’s easier to speak about a man, as he always sits and studies Torah, but regarding a woman, you have to think about what you’re going to say.”

All her life, the Rebbetzin supported her husband’s Torah learning, even while she was ill, she still asked her husband to return to the Yeshiva and deliver his regular classes.

Someone once asked the Rebbetzin to ask her father, Rav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita a question, but she didn’t get a chance, so instead she decided to present the question to her father-in-law, Rav Shteinman, saying, “what difference does it make, it’s all one Torah”, and Rav Shteinman supported her claim.

The Gaon, Rav Shteinman always stood behind her actions.
